The German photographer has collated a series of his iconic black and white portraits of some of the most famous women in the world, for a new book promoting the freedom of the press, available from September 11 in association with Reporters Sans Frontières.
From Nicole Kidman, Tilda Swinton and Monica Belluci to Cate Blanchette, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Jeanne Moreau, Peter Lindbergh has photographed some of today's best actresses and well-loved female personalities. Having launched his career in 1971 and propelled the 1990s supermodels to superstardom, the fashion photographer has now collated 100 images of cotemporary muses in a book celebrating the freedom of the press with the support of the Reporters Sans Frontières organization. The book is a timeless tribute to liberated woman, covered by the famous shot of Kate Moss from 1994, including a number o black and white portraits. The work also includes texts about the freedom of the press law from the last 33 years, paying particular attention to North Korea, Zimbabwe, which are among the lowest ranking countries in terms of press freedom according to the RSF, as well as Finland, considered the best in the world. Alongside testimonials from famous female faces, the reporter Anne Nivat pays homage to her sister Camille Lepage, who was killed in Central Africa last May. Discover a series of texts and images promoting freedom of information in a stylish coffee-table book, whose proceeds will be donated to the RSF Association. The "Peter Lindbergh 100 Photos pour la Liberté de la Presse" book, available at book stores from September 11 for 9.90.
